The Kemnay pupils have now returned from their successful African trip on which Saltire Energy sponsored a range of items for the venture. The Saltire/Aberdeen Football Club strips were greatly appreciated by the local teams and several exciting matches transpired.
Saltire jackets proved useful at Victoria Falls when a drenching was inevitable.

On Thursday the 7th of May 2009 the African trip featured on STV’s 6.00PM North Tonight news. STV, in support of this venture, have kindly allowed us to load a clip of the broadcast and we wish to express our appreciation of this.
This is the World Challenge team just before they left for 1 month in Botswana, Namibia and Zambia on the 16th June.
Saltire Energy have supplied the group with jackets emblazoned with individual nicknames.
Whilst there they will be working on a community project at a primary school in Namibia, trekking through the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Dessert and, on the last couple of days, visiting Victoria Falls and going on a safari.

The group from Kemnay Academy which Saltire Energy is supporting are continuing to raise funds for their African trip.

"World Challenge" expedition
There are 15 youngsters & 1 teacher going from Kemnay Academy for 1 month during June & July this year
They will be visiting Zambia, Botswana & Namibia and will be doing a 1 week “Community Project” in Namibia
Each of the “Challengers” has had to raise £3,600 for their trip and then in addition they have needed to raise group funds.
As a group they held bag packs at Marks & Spencer in Inverurie and Westhill and held a very successful ceilidh at
Kinellar Hall
Craig Mitchell, whose elder daughter is one of the group, has arranged for Aberdeen Football Club with whom Saltire Energy sponsor the “Elite Youth Development Program” to provide the 12 x AFC Kits in the picture which they will take out to Namibia to donate to the local kids. We are hoping that they can arrange a 5-a-side game with them whilst they are there and will keep us updated when they return.
